The Camp Season wouldn’t be complete without our famous Father/Son Weekends — for campers, non-campers, alumni-campers, shouldabeen-campers and gonnabe-campers. It’s an exciting mini-camp experience and bonding time for dads, grand-dads, uncles and their boys! Families still new to Camp La Junta will get a firsthand try at camp activities, meet folks behind the scenes and get a feel for our approach to kids and camping. Experienced La Junta folks will get a chance to enjoy La Junta and the outdoors in a relaxed, family atmosphere.
Please check back in December for 2020 Dates and Registration
Father/son weekends traditionally function with a resort style atmosphere, with dads scheduling, supervising and lifeguarding their own boys. The only firmly scheduled events each day will be meals. Optional activities will include riflery, archery, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, tennis, athletics, hiking and horseback. Supervision by La Junta staff is provided for riflery, archery, adventure activities and riding, and families choose when they will try those and the other activities…the schedule is yours to create. The atmosphere is designed such that a father and son(s) spend the weekend together, creating their own entertainment while getting to know La Junta and its staff a little better.
At all times throughout the weekend, adults will be fully responsible for the supervision and safety of the children which they bring. This includes hiking the hill with them, lifeguarding and enforcing life jacket requirements in all water craft.
Five meals, starting with Saturday’s hearty breakfast and finishing with a light Sunday, lunch will be served. Snacks and a campfire will be available on Friday evening for those who arrive before bedtime.
We will typically assign you and at least 2 other families to a cabin (generally by boys’ ages), and will be happy to consider your special requests for cabin mates — just give us a call or indicate a preference on your registration form.
$400.00 per pair of people plus $50.00 for each additional boy in your group. In typical La Junta fashion, fees are all inclusive. Sorry, we can’t make partial allowances or prorating.
Please complete our online camp application found in CampInTouch. Our spots fill quickly, so it is best to act soon. Because of the automated nature of our online payment system, we cannot accept credit card payment unless you register online.
When Father/Son spots are full, we will begin waiting lists. Even so, we encourage you to complete an application and join a list. It is not uncommon to have cancellations up until the very last minute because of sports and business, and we are quick to fill spots as soon as they open.
