HILL COUNTRY HAVEN

The  grounds provide an inspiring setting for a welcoming family environment and exciting activities at Camp La Junta. The mile-long riverfront includes calm shallows for first time swimmers, our own inner tube and canoe shoots, swimming lanes, rope swing, water slide and separate canoe, sailing and kayak docks. The  giant oak and cypress trees provide cooling shade for our  stone and wood frame cabins which sit along the base of the La Junta mountain.

Our cabins are spacious and comfortable and contain full bathroom facilities within. Typical cabins house eight to fourteen boys plus their college-aged counselors, counselor aids and often a Counselor in Training.

The centerpiece of La Junta’s scenic grounds is its large, Old West-themed Dining Hall, where delicious meals are served “family style.”  Cereal, salad and sandwich bar options also accommodate a variety of palates.

Our campus is complete with a well-equipped Infirmary of nursing staff, an air-conditioned “movie hall” for the hot afternoons and evening relaxation, an open-air theater (for campfires, Sunday services and awards ceremonies), horse stables, a 6000-square foot covered activity pavilion, archery range, covered rifle range and acres of open fields for sports and games.
