Weekly News – The Daily Tatler

December 1, 2011

As much as we’d like you to believe that we’ve been swimming laps in the river and rapelling off of the La Junta sign since camp, we thought you’d like an update on some of the things that have been going on.  (between laps and rapelling).

CAMPINTOUCH – Each summer, we get more and more excited about our (your) CampInTouch camper access portal. We’ve had great fun putting photos, videos and newsletters online for the past few summers.  This fall the Newsletter section became a traditional (how old is a tradition) BLOG, making it even easier to provide up-to-date camp information.  This offseason we have begun monthly updates to the photos and videos and continue the Newsletters.
Check ‘em out.  We’re most excited about the bigger changes to the overall CampInTouch system. This summer we will be able to utilize electronic Health Forms and Releases, meaning you will be able to do virtually all of your presummer
paperwork and planning online, the store and other payment options will be even more simple yet detailed!  Don’t worry, we’ll still send you some stuff, just so the post office doesn’t forget about us.  Look for updates on your CampInTouch account as the new years arrives.

VIDEO AND YEARBOOK  –  Following a blockbuster moving theme, both the Roundup (print yearbook) and the DVD (video highlight film) are off at the printers. Scott and Mike had a great time looking at hours of footage and thousands of  photos to capture the excitement of the summer of 2011. Look for yours in the mail as school ends for the year.  Share the fun with your buddies.

CAMP STORE – If you’re looking for something special for Christmas, why not look back at the summer. Cheryl’s got all the Camp Store merchandise and some special items on the Camp La Junta Online Store ready for your holiday purchases. Get online and get outfitted for CLJ this holiday season.

MAINTENANCE – As soon as the camp was empty, improvements, some large, some small began on the La Junta grounds. It’s always our goal to keep up with little boy wear and tear over the offseason.  This year Wrangler Dave and the guys have been busy trimming trees, creating a fire buffer around the cabins along the hill, reworking the windows, loft and bathrooms at Cabin Hillside, managing the drainage around the dining hall and new office and working on some activity enhancements for Indian Lore, Archery and Athletics.
