Registration for our 2016 Father/Son weekends will be available after the first of the year.
Only online registrations will be accepted.
If you missed out last Spring, we hope to have you join us next Spring!
The Camp Season wouldn’t be complete without our “infamous” weekends — for campers, non-campers, alumni-campers, shouldabeen-campers and gonnabe-campers — for an exciting mini-camp experience. Folks still NEW to camping will get a firsthand try at camp activities, meet folks behind the scenes and get a feel for our approach to kids and camping. Experienced La Junta folks will get a chance to enjoy La Junta and the outdoors in a relaxed, family atmosphere. Kids bring their own “counselors,” so it’s the ultimate camp weekend for everyone!
It’s a “Guy Thing” – We’d like to keep things limited to our traditionally male population. However, we will not exclude any moms or sisters who want to “rough it” with the guys for a weekend. Ladies should remember our facilities will remain rustic and group oriented, but we’ll do our best to make you feel “at home.”
PROGRAM: Father/son weekends traditionally function with a resort style atmosphere, with Dads scheduling, supervising and lifeguarding their own boys. The only firmly scheduled events each day will be meals. Optional activities will include riflery, archery, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, tennis, athletics, hiking and horseback. Supervision is provided for Riflery, Archery and Riding, and families choose when they will try those and the other activities…the schedule is yours to create. The atmosphere is designed such that a father and son(s) spend the weekend together, creating their own entertainment while getting to know La Junta and its personnel a little better.
* You will have a schedule for riding (for boys only), riflery and archery, so that everyone will have a turn at these La Junta Staff-supervised activities. Commemorative T-Shirts will be given to everyone! Arrive anytime Friday after dinner or Saturday, but please let us know your arrival plans.
SUPERVISION: At all times throughout the weekend, adults will be fully responsible for the supervision and safety of the children which they bring. This includes hiking the hill with them, lifeguarding and enforcing life jacket requirements in canoes.
MEALS: Five meals, starting with Saturday’s hearty breakfast and finishing with a light Sunday, lunch will be served. Snacks and a campfire will be available on Friday evening for those who arrive before bedtime.
LODGING: We will typically assign you and at least 2 other families to a cabin (generally by boy’s age), and will be happy to consider your special requests for cabin mates — just give us a call or indicate a preference on your registration form.
COST: $250.00 per pair of people plus $50.00 for each additional boy in your group. In typical La Junta fashion, fees are all inclusive. Sorry, we can’t make partial allowances or prorating.
Please complete an online camp application, or download an application from the link below. As always, don’t hesitate to contact us directly and we’ll mail you set of information and an application. Our spots fill quickly, so it is best act soon. Because of the automated nature of our online payment system, we cannot accept credit card payment unless you register online.
WAITING LISTS: When Father/Son spots are full, we will begin waiting lists. Even when they begin to occur, we encourage you to complete an application and join a waiting list. It is not uncommon to have cancellations up until the week prior to F/S weekend because of sports and business trips. If you are flexible we can respond to a cancellation as late as the night before!
