Camp
La Junta Background:
Camp La
Junta is a private, traditional, recreational, overnight
camp for boys offering four-week or two-week sessions.
Camp La Junta is situated on 200 acres of scenic Texas
Hill Country, alongside a mile of the crystal clear,
spring fed Guadalupe River. The summer program was
developed to allow boys to participate in a variety of
exciting activities which broaden their experiences and
cultivate a strong sense of success and self-confidence.
Campers select the ten activities which they wish to
participate and each has his own unique activity schedule.
Typical cabins house 8-12 kids with 2-3 counselors.
Enrollment is limited to 250 boys per session, aged 7-14,
and there are 60 La Junta counselors. Of these 60
counselors, La Junta hires up to 6 females to work with
our youngest campers. In addition to counselor staff, we
hire nannies, nurses, office staff, maintenance and
kitchen personnel. In a given summer, approximately half
our staff are returnees, half are past campers. Each year
we hire approximately 15 - 20 new staff members.
Our
goal in the summer is to provide a dynamic work experience
which rivals the excitement and life experience of the
camper program. The professionalism of our training
and management styles mirror the best run companies in
modern business. A Camp La Junta counselor
experience is not only fun, relaxing, fulfilling and
rewarding, but provides countless hours of personal,
professional, management and leadership experience which
will continue to benefit you for years to follow. At
La Junta, we don't merely add counselors and employees in
the summer, we add team members and family. Our
staff give us much in the summer, and we want to make
certain that we give back. We know that it is the
counselors who make the summer excel, so we want to make
your summer, every summer, a once in a lifetime
experience.
If you are self-motivated,
committed to excellence, a top achiever, enjoy the outdoors, working with kids
and are interested in joining the best summer staff on the planet, please read
